Heroes don’t always wear capes—sometimes they drive bulldozers. Subhan Khan, a man from Haryana, has become a real-life hero in Telangana after rescuing nine people stranded on a bridge amidst severe flooding in the southern state. With great courage, Mr. Khan drove a bulldozer to the bridge and brought back the nine individuals who were trapped.
The incident occurred on the Prakash Nagar bridge over the Munneru River in Telangana’s Khammam district, where rising water levels had left nine people stranded. In a desperate plea, the marooned individuals recorded a video asking the state government for help. While a helicopter was dispatched for the rescue, it couldn’t reach the area due to inclement weather.
With no other help in sight, Subhan Khan took matters into his own hands. Despite warnings from others about the risks involved, Khan decided to take his bulldozer to the bridge. “If I die, it’s just one life lost, but if I succeed, I will save nine,” Khan said before climbing into the driver’s seat. His mission was successful, and he returned with all nine individuals safe and sound. As Khan and the rescued group returned, they were met with loud cheers and applause.
A voice captured in the video, believed to be that of Khan’s daughter, can be heard saying, “I am shivering; my daddy, he managed to do what he set out to do.”
Subhan Khan’s daring rescue has earned him widespread acclaim, with many hailing him as a true hero for his bravery and willingness to risk his own life for others. His phone has been inundated with calls of praise, including one from prominent opposition leader and former minister KT Rama Rao, commonly known as KTR.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the BRS leader expressed his admiration for Khan. “I just congratulated him on the phone. It’s not just about having a lot of guts; you need a big heart to be a true hero. Subhan Khan, my brother, you have spared so many families from lifelong sorrow by rescuing these nine people,” Rao wrote.
“When the government was contemplating whether and how to use a helicopter for the rescue, you stepped into danger and saved them all. I salute your big heart and incredible resolve! I will certainly meet you once I return. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Rao added.
