According to police, there was a confrontation on Friday between terrorists and security personnel in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Early in the morning, the security forces conducted a cordon-and-search operation in the Chotigam area of the south Kashmir district, acting on specific information about the presence of terrorists there, according to a police official.
He claimed that after the terrorists opened fire on the forces, who responded, the search operation became an encounter.
The official stated that there have been no reports of fatalities from either side up to this point.
