7 newborns died in a major fire at Delhi’s baby care centre.

A major fire broke out at a children’s hospital in Vivek Vihar, east Delhi, early Sunday, killing at least seven newborns.

DCP (Shahdara) Surendra Chowdhary informed about the event, stating that 12 babies were saved, one of whom was already dead and six more were certified dead subsequently.

The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) stated the fire broke out at the children’s hospital in Shahdara on Saturday night. DFS chief Atul Garg stated that five babies are being treated at another hospital.

The bodies have been taken to the GTB Hospital for postmortem. The police stated they will take action against the hospital’s owner, Naveen Kichi.
