The Supreme Court today granted temporary bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal until June 1. Mr. Kejriwal was jailed in a money laundering case and had requested a release from jail to campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
On May 7, a panel comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta reserved its ruling on Mr. Kejriwal’s temporary release.
Mr. Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was detained on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case related to the alleged liquor policy fraud. He is being detained in Tihar prison under judicial supervision.
