Kejriwal Asserts: ‘PM Holds the Key to My Imprisonment Duration

New Delhi, May 24, 2024 — In a revealing and hard-hitting interview, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has made bold assertions regarding his potential imprisonment and the political stability of opposition-led state governments. Kejriwal, a prominent leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), claimed that only Prime Minister Narendra Modi could determine the duration of his time behind bars. He further warned that if he were to resign from his post, other opposition governments, particularly those led by Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal and Pinarayi Vijayan in Kerala, would be the next targets for destabilization.

Kejriwal’s comments come amid escalating tensions between the AAP-led Delhi government and the central administration. The Delhi CM alleged that the ongoing investigations and charges against him were politically motivated. “Only the PM can answer how long he wants me in jail,” Kejriwal stated, suggesting that his legal troubles were being orchestrated from the highest levels of the government.

In a broader warning, Kejriwal emphasized the potential repercussions of his resignation. “If I quit as CM, Mamata and Pinarayi governments will be toppled next,” he asserted. This statement underscores his belief that there is a systematic effort to weaken opposition parties and bring more states under the control of the ruling party at the center.

Kejriwal’s remarks are likely to resonate strongly in political circles, as they imply a direct threat to the autonomy and stability of regional governments led by non-BJP parties. Both Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, and Pinarayi Vijayan, the Chief Minister of Kerala, have faced their own share of conflicts with the central government, and Kejriwal’s comments suggest a potential escalation of these confrontations.
