In preparation for the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi submitted his nomination papers on Tuesday at the Varanasi District Magistrate’s office. The prime minister began his day with prayers at the constituency’s Dasaswamedh Ghat before going to the Kal Bhairav temple. The Varanasi seat will go to polls in the seventh and last phase of the Lok Sabha elections on June 1.
Leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), such as Union Home Minister Amit Shah, President of the Bharatiya Samaj Party J P Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, and Chief Ministers Nitish Kumar (Bihar), Himanta Biswa Sarma (Assam), Eknath Shinde (Maharashtra), Jayant Chaudhary (of the Lok Dal), Chirag Paswan (leader of the LJP), Anupriya Patel (of the Apna Dal (S)), and Omprakash Rajbhar of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party are expected to accompany Modi when he files his nomination.
