On conversation with Aditi she expressed about her journey, she said “From a young age, I was always captivated by the allure of fashion and the power of imagery to convey emotion and story,” the actress stated in a conversation with Aditi Madhukar. I spent a lot of time reading magazines as a child and looking up to Bella Hadid and Adriana Lima because they seemed to be the epitome of confidence and beauty. During my adolescent years, I had extreme insecurity due to my obesity and severe acne. I recall starving myself to be thin because I used to be teased and tormented at school, which had a negative impact on my mental and physical health. I also developed a negative relationship with food and a negative self-image. I then began to focus on improving my skincare routine, sense of style, and communication abilities. I began going to the gym the day after my board exams were over, and I’ve improved greatly on the physical and mental fronts.”
Further she added “Despite my passion in tech and business, I have a busy schedule as a science major, barista, and part-time math tutor. However, my dream has always been to work in fashion and modelling. For me, modelling is a platform for action and narrative, not just about striking a pose. It is quite empowering for me to be in this field as someone who has previously battled body image issues. Like Hrithik Roshan, I was born with polydactyly, which is the condition of having an additional finger. I have an extra thumb in my left hand.”
More she add “My experience as a model has taught me to value my individuality and celebrate my differences. I would tell you to never forget that you are much more valuable than how you look or how successful you are in your work. You are valuable just for being who you are, and you should be respected, listened, and honoured for the singular person that you are. Be in the company of positive people, work on your self-acceptance and self-compassion, and never be afraid to stand up for yourself. Your viewpoint and voice have the capacity to make a positive difference in the world.”
On expressing about her passion, she said “Maintaining a positive body image requires self-care, especially in a field where criticism and high expectations are commonplace. I put my own mental and emotional well-being first by surrounding myself with positive people and engaging in self-compassion and self-love exercises. I also actively participate in things that make me happy, like spending time with close friends and family, centering myself at the gym, or taking a moment to acknowledge my body for everything it is capable of.”
