Gadar 2, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, earned a record-breaking Rs 55.40 crore on the Independence Day holiday. But according to industry tracker Sacnilk, on the movie’s sixth day in theaters—a working Wednesday—it made Rs 34.50 crore at the box office. The entire domestic net revenue for Gadar 2 is now Rs 263.48 crore. On Wednesday, the movie was viewed by 56.09% of the audience.
On August 11, Gadar 2 became available, and its first day at the box office brought in Rs 40.1 crore. Despite competition from OMG 2, which was released on the same day, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which had been doing well since its July 28 release, the movie has been doing incredibly well at the box office.
Even though the movie has only been in screens for one week, it has beaten out Pathaan to become the year’s second-highest domestic grosser. According to Bollywood Hungama, the Shah Rukh Khan film brought in Rs 543.05 crore in India. Anil Sharma’s Gadar 2 has far exceeded The Kerala Story’s total lifetime earnings of Rs 242.20 crore.
The sequel to the 2001 blockbuster Gadar, one of the year’s highest grossing films, is titled Gadar 2. Both Gadar and Lagaan performed incredibly well at the box office when they were both released in 2001. Gadar made more money in India, while Lagaan received critical acclaim worldwide and was nominated for an Academy Award.
Sunny Deol stated that he would be producing “good films” like Gadar 2 during the press conference honouring the success of Gadar 2. “I promise all my fans that I’m only going to make good films like these. They say films for ‘masses’. What do you mean by that word? Public is public and that means everyone,” he said.
