The political parties have stepped up their poll campaigns for the remaining constituencies, as the second round of India’s general elections concluded on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will conduct a quick visit to Karnataka on April 28 and 29, speaking at public forums in five districts and canvassing for the BJP.

He arrived in Belagavi early on April 28 and spoke at a public assembly. He would next fly to Sirsi to participate in a public gathering. The Prime Minister’s next stop will be Davangere, where he is scheduled to attend an electoral rally at 2 p.m. Modi would later speak at a public assembly in Ballari at 4 p.m. On April 29, the Prime Minister will travel to Bagalkote to hold a public gathering at 11 a.m.

On Saturday, PM Modi urged the people of Goa to resist what he described as ‘anti-India forces’, claiming that the Congress was attempting to strengthen and restore his administration for a third term in a row. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, on the other hand, stated at a poll-bound rally in Gujarat that, while the current BJP’s senior leadership may deny it now, if they return to power, they will change the Constitution.

The second round of voting for 88 parliamentary seats distributed over 13 states and Union Territories (UTs) saw a voter participation of approximately 63.50%, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI). The first phase of voting took held on April 19 in 102 seats across 21 states and union territories.

All attention are on two major political alliances: the INDIA bloc and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s NDA, the main contenders in the Lok Sabha Election 2024. The INDIA bloc includes political groups like as the Congress, AAP, and TMC, whilst the NDA includes the BJP, PMK, and JDU, among others.

The NDA is aiming for its third straight term in this general election, with overtones of ‘abki baar 400 paar’, whilst the opposition INDIA alliance is adopting an economic approach to their campaign, pledging MSP for farmers and cash handouts to women in their platform.
