Two LeT terrorists were killed in a clash in Baramulla, J&K.

On May 4, two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants were killed in a shootout with security personnel in the Baramulla area of north Kashmir, marking the second such incident in the previous 24 hours.

“Shakir Majid Najar and Hanan Ahmad Seh, both from the Shopian district, have been identified as the two. In the month of March 2023, both joined militancy. Additional Kashmir Director General of Police Vijay Kumar remarked, “More investigation is ongoing.

Security personnel began a cordon and search operation early on May 4 morning in the Wanigam Payeen Kreeri area of the Baramulla district in north Kashmir in response to specific information regarding the presence of terrorists there, a police officer said.

He claimed that after the militants opened fire on a search party of the forces, who returned fire, the search operation developed into an encounter.

Two terrorists were killed during the exchange of gunfire, the official reported, adding that their identity and group membership were being verified.

After a brief calm, this is the second encounter in the Valley in the past 24 hours.

On May 3, an engagement occurred when the security forces thwarted an attempt to infiltrate the area close to the Line of Control (LoC) in the Machil sector of the Kupwara district. Two terrorists were killed.

These meetings happened right before Kashnir will host the G20 later this month. All around the Valley, security has been stepped up.

NIA investigations in Baramulla

On May 4, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at four locations in the Baramulla district in search of proof of militant activity, according to officials.

According to the officials, the NIA inspected four locations in the Old Town of the Baramulla district in north Kashmir in connection with a case involving militancy in the Union Territory.

They said that CRPF and police were there with the NIA investigators.

They stated that searches continued up until the time of the final reports while stating that more information was awaited.
