India records 12,591 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours

According to data from the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, India recorded 12,591 new Covid-19 infections on Thursday, April 20. This represents an increase of at least 20% from the day before.

With 1,724 current cases, the government reports that the total number of active cases has surpassed 65,000. The recovery rate has been revised to 98.68% after at least 10,827 recoveries were completed, bringing the total to 4,42,61,476 cases. 2,30,419 Covid-19 tests were also carried out nationwide, according the statistics.

The number of deaths from the disease rose to 5,31,230 as a result of 29 more deaths, the majority of which occurred in Delhi. The health ministry reports that the fatality rate is 1.19 percent. Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh were two more states with a high fatality rate.

The percentage of active cases is 0.15 at present.

Data from the ministry show that 574 injections were given on a single day, and 2,20,66,28,332 doses of the Covid vaccine have been given so far as part of the statewide immunisation campaign.
