AAP MP Swati Maliwal and Arvind Kejriwal’s assistant have filed lawsuits against one another, alleging abuse on both sides’ part. When Swati Maliwal first filed a complaint, she said that Bibhav Kumar, Mr. Kejriwal’s secretary, had physically assaulted and mistreated her during a visit to the chief minister’s house in Delhi.
Mr. Kumar has claimed in a counter-FIR that Swati Maliwal went into Mr. Kejriwal’s house without authorization or a scheduled visit.
In a statement, the Aam Aadmi Party asserted that the controversy appeared to be an attempt by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to undermine the AAP in the midst of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. AAP leader Atishi asserted that Ms. Maliwal had broken the law by entering the Chief Minister’s home without following the proper procedures.
When Bibhav Kumar and the security personnel asked the MP to leave, they both claim that she “trespassed” and hurled insults.
Atishi brought up a recent CCTV clip that appears to show Swati Maliwal being led from the Chief Minister’s residence during a press conference today.
“Swati Maliwal says she couldn’t walk, but the video doesn’t show any injuries to her. However, the video unequivocally demonstrates that Maliwal is OK as he leaves Arvind Kejriwal’s home,” the AAP leader stated.
In addition, she charged Ms. Maliwal with working with the BJP to damage the party ahead of the general election.
However, because of his apparent inaction during the attack, the BJP has criticized Mr. Kejriwal for his silence and referred to him as the “main criminal”.
“From corruption to misbehavior to misinformation, the Aam Aadmi Party’s standard operating procedure has made it their idea and manner of doing business to engage in this kind of behavior. On May 13, Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal was involved in this incident. Shehzad Poonawalla, a BJP spokesperson, stated, “At first, they (AAP) remained silent, then after that, they accepted the incident to some extent. After that, they boldly defended the accused.
“But they then changed their strategy and attacked the victim. Not just ‘cheerharan’ happened with ‘Draupadi’ but also character assassination,” he added.
