The AAP said on Sunday that the Election Commission (EC) had banned the party’s Lok Sabha campaign song, ‘Jail ke jawab mein hum vote denge’, since it portrayed the ruling BJP and government investigating agencies negatively.
The poll panel provided no immediate rebuttal to the AAP’s assertion.
During a news conference, top AAP leader Atishi stated, “It is probably the first time that the EC has imposed a ban on a party’s campaign song.”
According to the EC, the song portrays the ruling party and investigative institutions in a negative manner.
“The song does not name the BJP or violate the Model Code of Conduct. “It includes factual videos and incidents,” she explained.
Ms. Atishi, a Delhi government minister, accused the EC of failing to act on the BJP’s poll code infractions.
“If the BJP imposes dictatorship, it is justified. However, discussing it is inappropriate. This demonstrates that democracy is in jeopardy. “I want to urge the EC to act on the BJP’s (poll code) violations rather than halting opposition party campaigns,” she added.
Dilip Pandey, an AAP MLA, wrote and sang the party’s more than two-minute campaign song. The song was unveiled on Thursday at the party headquarters.
