The moments leading up to and following yesterday’s explosion at a chemical factory in Thane, Maharashtra, which left at least eight people dead, were captured on security camera footage.
According to CCTV footage, four workers were standing near a boiler plant corner just before the explosion. Then there was a loud thud and glass fragments flew. In an attempt to save themselves, the laborers fled on foot.
After the explosion in Dombiwali, near Mumbai, dozens of people were injured in addition to the eight confirmed deaths.
Three explosions at the factory have been heard by witnesses, who claim to have heard them from a kilometer away. To get it under control, the fire department needs at least fifteen engines.
There is a large crater where the explosion occurred. Its shockwaves bent heavy iron beams and damaged surrounding factories.
Officials, including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, paid a visit to the location.
