Ramniwas Rawat, a former minister and six-time Congress MLA, has joined the BJP with 1,000 followers.
He joined in the presence of chairman Minister Mohan Yadav, state party chairman VD Sharma, and former home minister Narottam Mishra at a public gathering in Sheopur.
Mr. Rawat joined the BJP as Rahul Gandhi was speaking at a meeting in the nearby Bhind district.
