Prajwal Revanna, a Janata Dal (Secular) MP and the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, is at risk of being abandoned by his uncle HD Kumaraswamy after hundreds of purportedly filthy films of him went public.
Mr Kumaraswamy has stated that if anyone is proven guilty, including Prajwal Revanna, he will not defend them.
The former Karnataka Chief Minister, however, distanced himself from the incident, claiming that the Congress is using Prajwal Revanna’s “personal matter” to defame the entire family.
In an unusual turn of events, Mr Kumaraswamy questioned who disseminated the footage.
He instantly corrected, “Not just as an uncle, but also as a citizen, a regular guy, we must move forward. This is a shameful situation. I am not shielding anyone. We’ve protested.”
He declined to comment on whether Prajwal Revanna will be suspended from the Janata Dal (Secular) or JD (S), a BJP partner in the Lok Sabha polls. Prajwal Revanna is the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate for Hassan.
“Who runs the government? The government must take responsibility for conducting an investigation and presenting the truth. “That must be exposed by the government, not by me,” Mr Kumaraswamy stated. Prajwal Revanna rejected the claims and filed a police report, claiming that the obscene films in circulation were altered. He left for Germany on Saturday morning, after voting in the Lok Sabha elections.
