In the midst of an incredible run in the 2017 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Team India vice captain Hardik Pandya has overtook Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis to become the third-ranked all-rounder in the world in the most recent ICC Rankings for T20Is. With 222 rating points, Sri Lankan captain Wanindu Hasaranga has taken the top spot, surpassing Stoinis, who was last week regarded as the best all-around player in T20Is. Stoinis now stands at No. 4 in the rankings.
Stoinis’ T20 World Cup performance was dismal, which was mostly indicative of Australia’s performance in the competition as they were eliminated following two Super 8 losses. Number one is Hasaranga, followed by Afghanistan veteran Mohammad Nabi in second place and Hardik in third. With 116 runs at a 53-run average and eight wickets taken, Hardik has emerged as one of the key players for the Indian squad in the T20 World Cup and will be looking for more of the same in the elimination stages.
After underwhelming performances in the Super Eight, Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has fallen three spots to No. 6 in Sikandar Raza’s rankings. Among all-rounders, Roston Chase made the largest leap, moving up 17 spots to the No. 12 spot after superb bat and ball performances for the West Indies in the Super 8.
Jasprit Bumrah made the biggest leap for India, jumping a massive 44 spots to tie for 24th position in the bowlers rankings. With wickets and economy, Bumrah has been outstanding in the T20 World Cup thus far. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav, who participated in all three Super 8 matches, moved up 20 spots to rank No. 11 among bowlers. Axar Patel, who moved up one spot to take the eighth spot, is the highest-ranked bowler for India. With 15 wickets in the competition thus far, Arshdeep Singh also climbed three spots to the No. 17 spot.
