After defeating Rajasthan Royals by a score of 10 runs on Wednesday, Lucknow Super Giants won the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match. The victory improves Lucknow’s chances of finishing in the top 4, but there are still several areas that captain Rahul and his team need to improve. Lucknow only scored 154 runs overall when batting first. To the dismay of the home team’s captain Sanju Samson, Rajasthan could only score 144 runs in 20 overs despite an 87-run partnership for the first wicket.
At the conclusion of the game, LSG captain Rahul made fun of his own leadership while revealing that he was struck by one of his own teammate’s throws. Therefore, it appears that he hasn’t handled his ‘captaincy’ correctly.
Rahul stated during the post-game presentation ceremony, “I got hit by one of the throws from my teammates, so clearly doing something wrong as captain.”
The cricketer from Karnataka explained his team’s score in the following way: “In the 10 over mark, the message me and Kyle gave out was 160 would be a solid total on this track, they have some good bowlers as well who exploited the conditions. We missed by 10 but made up for it with the ball. Additionally, the absence of dew made it fair for both teams. When we first arrived here yesterday, we thought 180 would be a reasonable total, but after Boult’s first over, Kyle and I chatted and realised this wasn’t a 180 wicket. We gave ourselves time in the powerplay because the ball was staying a little low. We might have obtained 170 as well if we had played a little bit better.
“I believe that the impact player’s run-out and the loss of two wickets in quick succession gave the opposition (his own team) a chance. We needed to have our preparations in place to remove them since we knew that Rajasthan’s top four players were their greatest strength, Rahul added.
Rahul’s own performance hasn’t been stellar. He set together an 82-run stand for the opening wicket while scoring 39 runs off 32 balls against the Royals. The captain is aware that he needs to score runs more quickly if the team is to win the competition.
