In A First, All-Women Team Manages Polling Booth In Chhattisgarh’s Raipur

At each of the 201 polling places in the capital city of Chhattisgarh, Raipur, assembly constituency, women have been given the responsibility of handling the entire voting process. This is a first for the nation, according to officials.
Assembly elections for 70 seats in the state are in their second and final phase. The results will be announced on December 3. The polls opened on Friday morning.

“Women will take full responsibility for an election process in an Assembly segment for the first time in the nation’s democratic history.” All 201 polling places in the Raipur City North seat are “Sangwari booths,” where women staff every position, from the polling officer to the presiding officer,” according to a release from the district administration on Thursday.

“There are 201 polling places, and all booths have female officers. Of these, 804 women are directly in charge, and another 200 are held in reserve. IAS officer Vimla R, a woman, is the observer for this seat, and a woman serves as her liaison officer. The majority of the booths’ security will be overseen by female staff members, it continued.

Reena Baba Saheb Kangale, a female IAS officer, is the notable Chief Electoral Officer of Chhattisgarh, according to the release.

The sex ratio in Raipur North assembly constituency, where female officers have been assigned to every booth, is 1010, meaning that for every thousand men, there are 1010 women.

Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, the district election officer and collector for Raipur, stated on Thursday that the concept of giving women full control over one assembly seat in the district was raised early in the election process and that a plan was developed after the idea was well received by all parties.

“Having all women on the team is a historic occasion. They have faith that they will carry out this significant duty. Additionally, women will staff half of the booths in the Raipur City South segment. It will guarantee that women play a major role in the two constituencies, according to Bhure. TKP PTI BNM NR
