Lead HR Lori Goler said that managers will have to check in with their team members every month to see if the policy is being followed.
The internet giant informed its staff members last week that starting on September 5, employees at Meta Platforms, the business formerly known as Facebook, will have to be present at office three days each week.
According to Business Insider, Lori Goler, the head of human resources at Meta, warned in a post on the company’s internal forum Workplace on August 17 that those who disobey the office order will be “disciplined” and possibly fired.
Goler pointed out that workers who are assigned to an office must show up at the designated location and engage in in-person work at least three times per week. However, the mandate does not apply to those who have already been given permission to work completely remotely or online.
Managers must follow up with team members on a monthly basis to make sure the policy is being followed, she added.
Goler stated: “Subject to local legislation and works council standards, managers will analyse badge and Status Tool information and follow up with those who did not satisfy the requirement. Repeated infractions may lead to disciplinary actions, up to and including a performance rating decrease, and if not addressed, termination, just like other corporate policies.
Most new employees are expected to work from the office under this, with the exception of those hired for entirely remote employment. People can apply to be fully remote if they have received positive performance reports after 18 months.
According to Goler’s message, being “fully remote” means that Meta will not be keeping a desk for these people because their physical presence is not required for more than four days every two months.
