19-Year-Old Killed In Fight Over Mobile Phone In Gurugram, 4 Arrested: Cops

A team from the Gurugram Police Crime Branch has arrested four individuals in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old man, who was killed over a dispute regarding a mobile phone, authorities reported.

The victim, Ashish, a resident of Bhangrola village in Gurugram, was an autorickshaw driver. The arrested suspects include Brijesh alias Rinku, Umesh alias Nahne, and Arvinder Kumar, all residents of Uttar Pradesh, and Siyasaran Sahu alias Sibbu, a resident of Madhya Pradesh.

According to the police, they were notified on December 22 about a body found in the water-filled green belt near Harsaru village on Dwarka Expressway. The police arrived at the scene and discovered the body, which was later examined by the scene-of-crime, forensic science, and fingerprint teams.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Varun Dahiya confirmed that the deceased was identified as Ashish. The victim’s father told the police in a written complaint that his son worked as an autorickshaw driver. Ashish had injuries to his head, and his neck was strangled with a muffler.

The victim’s father stated that his son had been murdered by unknown assailants. A case was registered at the Sector-10 police station in Gurugram based on this complaint.

Through investigation, a police team led by Inspector Jagveer Singh of the Palam Vihar Crime Branch tracked down the suspects on Thursday at Kankarola Road in Gurugram. The accused were renting a place in the area. During questioning, it was revealed that Brijesh was familiar with Ashish. The dispute began when Ashish forcibly took Brijesh’s mobile phone. On the night of December 21-22, Brijesh and his accomplices went to Ashish’s home in Bhangrola, where they got into a confrontation with him. The accused struck Ashish on the head with a brick, placed his body in the autorickshaw, and strangled him with a muffler. They then disposed of his body in the green belt of Dwarka Expressway and fled the scene.

The police have initiated further action as per legal procedures, and the investigation is ongoing.
