A social media remark by a former Pakistani minister has heightened tensions between the BJP and the Congress. The tweet by Ch Fawad Hussain included extracts from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s address with the description “Rahul on fire,” which drew severe condemnation from BJP officials.
Amit Malviya, the BJP’s IT cell leader, resorted to social media to challenge the Congress’ relationship with Pakistan, citing Mr Hussain’s past participation in Imran Khan’s government.

“Ch Fawad Hussain, Imran Khan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting, is praising Rahul Gandhi. Is the Congress going to run for election in Pakistan?”

“From a manifesto, that has imprints of the Muslim league to a ringing endorsement, from across the border, Congress’s dalliance with Pakistan can’t get more obvious,” she said.

BJP national spokesman Shehzad Poonawala expressed similar comments, accusing the Congress of having an obvious partnership with Pakistan.

“Congress ka haath Pakistan ke saath,” Mr. Poonawala wrote. “Hafiz Saeed previously stated that Congress is his favoured political party. Mani Aiyer travelled to Pakistan in search of help to overthrow Prime Minister Modi! Congress leaders recently raised Pakistan Zindabad shouts, and BK Hariprasad publicly supported Pakistan. Congress lawmakers repeatedly backed Pakistani terrorists.
