Cllr Sunil Chopra is the former Mayor of Southwark, he has lived in Southwark for many years and became the first Indian Origin elected Councillor in 2010. He has been elected as the mayor of London Borough of Southwark for the second time in 2022 and represents London Bridge & West Bermondsey. Councillor Sunil Chopra has a compassionate nature, being involved in providing support to various groups and forums in the borough and is dedicated to community service. He is a businessman he holds the record of raising the most money ever through the borough’s Mayoral Charity Appeal. He has strong ties between the UK and India and encourages Indian entrepreneurs and business people to invest into the UK. He also has business connections in Turkey, Djibouti and the Far East. Councillor Sunil Chopra graduated from the University of Delhi, BA LLB. He is founder trustee of the Southwark Hindu Centre and appointed as Patron for BEDE.
