Mumbai Police Takes Suspect To Saif Ali Khan’s Building To Recreate Scene

Mumbai police on Tuesday recreated the crime scene involving the knife attack on actor Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence, an official reported.

Around 5:30 a.m., a team of 20 police officers arrived at the Satguru Sharan building in four vans and remained on the premises for about an hour.

The accused, identified as Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, was escorted into the building through the front gate. Police later took him to Bandra railway station, where he boarded a train to Dadar after the attack, and to an outdoor location near a garden where he had spent the night.

Mr. Khan, aged 54, was repeatedly stabbed by the intruder inside his 12th-floor apartment on January 16, resulting in injuries that required surgery. Fakir, a Bangladeshi national living illegally in India under the alias Vijay Das, was arrested in Thane on Sunday.

After reconstructing the crime and tracing the accused’s movements, Fakir was taken back to Bandra police station for further interrogation. He has been remanded to five days in police custody by the Bandra metropolitan magistrate’s court.
