The celebrities that lost their Twitter blue ticks include SRK, Amitabh Bachchan, and Virat Kohli.

On Thursday, the microblogging platform Twitter removed the traditional verified blue ticks from all accounts.

Only individual Twitter users who pay for Twitter Blue, which costs $8 per month via the web and $11 per month via in-app payment on iOS and Android, have verified blue checkmarks.

A number of B-town celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, as well as politicians Yogi Adityanath, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, as well as cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, have lost their verified blue ticks from their Twitter accounts as a result of the recent development.

According to a previous announcement, Twitter will no longer display the verified checkmark next to any accounts that were recognised as notable before Elon Musk acquired the company, unless those accounts have a Twitter Blue or Twitter Verified Organisations subscription, according to Variety.

The blue tick was initially used to safeguard famous people from imitation and combat misleading information.

Twitter said earlier in March that they would start winding down their legacy verified programme and remove legacy verified checkmarks on April 1. People can sign up for Twitter Blue to keep their blue checkmark on Twitter.

In order to make it easier for users to tell which accounts “of public interest” on Twitter are legitimate and which are fake or parody accounts, Twitter originally launched the blue tick mark system in 2009. Previously, the business didn’t charge for verification.

Within two weeks of the acquisition of the firm last year, Musk introduced Twitter Blue, which included the check-mark emblem as one of the deluxe benefits.
