G20 Summit: New traffic and metro advice from Delhi Police. Verify routes; highways closed on September 8, 9, and 10

The Delhi Traffic Police stated in its bulletin that “In the National Capital Region (NCR), especially in New Delhi District and its surrounding areas, elaborate regulations on vehicular movements will be in place in the interest of public safety and convenience during the G20 Summit.”

For the G20 Summit, which will take place in Delhi next month, the Delhi Traffic Police has released an updated traffic advice. The new set of regulations has been proposed to guarantee the smooth operation of diverse kinds of transportation.
The Delhi Traffic Police stated in its bulletin that “In the National Capital Region (NCR), especially in New Delhi District and its surrounding areas, elaborate regulations on vehicular movements will be in place in the interest of public safety and convenience.”

During the G20 Summit, what will be closed?

Offices, restaurants, malls, and markets will all be closed in New Delhi from September 8 to September 10, according to the Delhi Traffic Police.
The Supreme Court will also not be open.
Entry and departure will be permitted to locals, but those from outside will require special passes.

Routes to avoid

According to the advise, general traffic—aside from trucks and buses—will be permitted to enter Delhi from the Rajokari Border.
From NH-48, the same route will be forcibly detoured to Rao Tula Ram Marg – Olof Palme Marg. The NH-48 in the direction of Dhaula Kuan will be closed to all vehicular traffic.

On Mathura Road (beyond Ashram Chowk), Bhairon Road, Purana Quila Road, and inside the Pragati Maidan Tunnel from September 7 to September 10, no vehicle, including goods vehicles, commercial vehicles, interstate buses, and local city buses like Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses, will be permitted to operate.

What will be open during the G20 Summit ?

The summit will take place at the recently constructed Bharat Mandapam conference hall in Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, according to the traffic police bulletin. There will be restrictions on the traffic in the region.

Suggested routes during the G20 summit 

The traffic police have urged commuters to avoid going to locations that are in controlled and regulated areas. However, a few options are available if absolutely necessary:
Ring Road, Ashram Chowk, and Sarai Kale Khan make up the north-south route. The Delhi-Meerut Motorway, the Noida Link Road, the Puta Road, Yudhistir Setu, the ISBT Kashmere Gate, the Ring Road, and Majnu Ka Tila
From AIIMS Chowk, furtherRing Road to Dhaula Kuan, Ring Road to Brar Square, Ring Road to Naraina Flyover, Ring Road to Rajouri Garden Junction, Ring Road to Punjabi Bagh Junction and Ring Road to Azad Pur Chowk.

From Sun Dial/DND Flyover to Ring Road to Ashram Chowk to Moolchand Underpass to AIIMS Chowk to Ring Road to Dhaula Kuan to Ring Road to Brar Square to Naraina Flyover is the East-West Corridor.
Chandigi Ram Akhara is accessible via Yudhisthir Setu-Ring Road.-Lala Jagat Narayan Marg, Azad Pur Chowk, Ring Road, and Mall Road.

Metro service limitations:

All metro stations will still offer travellers access to the rail system. On September 9 and 10, however, from 5 am to 11 pm, boarding and de-boarding would not be allowed at Supreme Court Metro Station.
