Arunachal Pradesh medical professionals carry out a rare procedure to prevent cardiac arrest.

Arunachal Pradesh experienced a first when a team of doctors and medical professionals from the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) implanted a dual chamber 3 Tesla MRI compatible automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillator (AICD) here in a 37-year-old woman to serve as primary prevention of cardiac arrest.
The patient had severe left ventricular systolic failure and cardiac sarcoidosis.

The team consists of the cardiologists Dr. RD Megeji, Dr. Tony Ete, Nilutpal Goswami, an OT nursing officer, and Joram Moni, a cath lab technician.

The team, which has installed more than 70 permanent pacemakers to date, thanked the patient’s family, the institute’s head of anesthesiology, the person in charge of the operating room, the director of TRIHMS, and the state government for having faith in them.
