India reports over 7,000 New Covid Cases, a Significant Increase From Yesterday

The number of coronavirus infections in India rose by 7,830 on Wednesday, the most in 223 days, and the number of active cases in the nation has risen to 40,215. This information was made public by the Health Ministry.

With 16 more fatalities, the total number of deaths from the infectious disease has reached 5,31,016. Of these, two occurred in each of the following states: Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Kerala reconciled five virus-related deaths, according to the statistics updated at 8 am.

The number of infections reported today is a dramatic increase from the 5,676 instances recorded yesterday, bringing the total number of Covid cases reported in the nation to 4,47,76,002.

On September 1 of last year, the nation saw an increase of 7,946 COVID-19 cases in a single day.

22 states and Union Territories have reported 1,774 occurrences of the XBB1.16 strain. XBB1.16.1, the mutated sub-variant of Omicron, has been contracted by over 230 of the infected patients, according to data from the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG).

According to the health ministry website, the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.72 percent, and active cases currently make up 0.09 percent of all infections.

The number of patients who have recovered from the illness has increased to 4,42,04,771, and the case fatality rate was 1.19 percent, according to the data.

According to the ministry’s website, the country has received 220.66 crore doses of vaccines so far as part of the statewide COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
