The wrestlers who are protesting are “Insaaf Ke Sipahi”, says, ex-minister of law Kapil Sibal

Tuesday, Sibal brought up a petition filed by wrestlers seeking a FIR against WFI president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in front of the Supreme Court.

Former Union law minister Kapil Sibal on Tuesday stated his ‘Insaaf Ke Sipahi’ stands with wrestlers protesting against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, an MP of the ruling BJP.

Protesters: Unable to influence those in positions of authority

Have chosen to: The Supreme Court be moved

The eminent Supreme Court counsel Sibal tweeted, “Insaaf ke Sipahi are with you.

The case was brought up by Sibal on Tuesday before a two-judge bench presided over by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, a day after seven prominent wrestlers simultaneously petitioned the Supreme Court to file a FIR against Singh for allegedly harassing female wrestlers.

The bench sent a notice to the Delhi Police after stating that the charges against Singh were “serious,” and the case’s next hearing is scheduled for this Friday.

Wrestlers, including Olympic medalists, have been participating in a “dharna” since Sunday at the renowned Jantar Mantar protest location in the nation’s capital. As a result of a meeting with Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, which resulted in the creation of a committee to investigate their claims, the first round of their protest, which was scheduled to take place in January, has been postponed.

They chose to continue their protest, nonetheless, as Singh received no punishment. On his end, the BJP MP has refuted their claims.

With “Insaaf Ke Sipahi”

Founded in March by the former congressman, “Insaaf Ke Sipahi” means “crusaders for justice” in English. The project’s official name is “Insaaf” (justice), and its website is called “Insaaf Ke Sipahi.” The Rajya Sabha MP claims that the programme will aid individuals in rising up against “injustice,” with attorneys at the fore.
