Centre Sent So Many Teams To Bengal, Why None To Manipur: Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today attacked the Centre over the Manipur problem, saying the BJP’s “Beti Bachao” scheme had evolved into “Beti Jalao” (Burn our girls).

Why the Centre never bothered to send central teams to Manipur, where ethnic conflict has already claimed more than 160 lives, was a concern Mamata Banerjee raised.

“We would like to show our support for Manipur. Why wasn’t a central team sent to the northeastern state when the BJP had dispatched so many teams to Bengal (after the panchayat elections)? she questioned.

Speaking at the party’s annual Martyrs’ Day rally in this location, Banerjee affirmed her support for the recently established opposition alliance I.N.D.I.A. and stated that their goal is to unseat the saffron camp.

She sounded the alarm that democracy will perish with the re-election of the BJP administration.

The TMC leader made it clear that the BJP must be driven out of power and dispelled rumours that he had personal ambitions by declaring, “We have no other demand, neither do we want any chair except for driving BJP out of the Centre in 2024.”

“I’m glad that 26 opposition parties have united. We shall plan demonstrations against the Centre under the guise of the insurgent coalition, I.N.D.I.A. TMC will support the alliance’s battle efforts as a soldier, she vowed.

Ms Banerjee said if the BJP returns to power for the third consecutive time at the Centre, “Democracy will cease to exist in the country.”
