“Increase Tax”: Paresh Rawal Suggests Punishment For Those Who Don’t Vote

Veteran Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal performed his civic duty as the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections began by casting his ballot at a Mumbai polling station on Monday morning.
Mr. Rawal spoke with the media after casting his ballot and emphasized the significance of taking part in elections.

“You will say, government doesn’t do this, doesn’t do that… If you don’t vote today, then you will be responsible, not the government,” he stated, urging citizens to take responsibility for their civic duties.

He also suggested implementing penalties for those who abstain from voting. “There should be some provisions for those who don’t vote, like an increase in tax or some other punishment,” he added.

Phase 5 of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections is currently holding elections for six Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai. Mumbai North, Mumbai North West, Mumbai North East, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai South, and Mumbai South Central are the constituencies that will vote today.

Earlier in the day, a number of Bollywood celebrities—including Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkumar Rao, Sanya Malhotra, Shahid Kapoor, and Akshay Kumar—cast their votes at the appropriate polling places in Mumbai.
