Anurag Thakur, the minister of information and broadcasting, claimed on Friday that the Congress administration’s handling of sensitive material about the nation’s defence needs “compromised” national security.
Anurag Thakur criticised Rahul Gandhi for raising concerns about press freedom in India and asserted that the nation does not require a seal of approval from “imprudent people” or “nondescript” rating agencies.
The Union minister said on Twitter that Rahul Gandhi had “falsely attacked India and its press freedom during his sponsored press interview to defend a so-called journalist who was detained by our law enforcement agency for passing on India’s secrets to international agencies.”
Anurag Thakur stated, “India doesn’t need certifications from any propaganda-driven media house, unimpressive rating agencies, or foolish people like Rahul Gandhi.
In order to disparage India and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led administration, the top BJP politician claimed it was “horrible that he (Gandhi) has become blind to such an extent that he doesn’t consider breaching national security a crime.”
Rahul Gandhi is touring the US and has spoken at news conferences, gatherings attended by Indian expatriates, and interactions with students at institutions.
Detractors of his have challenged his claims that the Indian Union Muslim League is a “secular” political party and the Sikhism founder Guru Nanak’s “visit” to Thailand.
Anurag Thakur said, “It is no accident that he consistently picks foreign turf to disseminate lies about India at such questionable organised and sponsored events.
The minister stated, “India under the Congress regime has seen how national security was compromised, with middlemen having unrestricted access to sensitive information about our defence requirements, etc.”
Anurag Thakur alleged that the “Yuvraj” of the Congress was still residing in the past, when terrorists were welcomed to the PMO for a handshake with the prime minister.
