The first match of the 3-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka was played on 2 August at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo which ended in a tie. In this match, Sri Lankan team captain Charith Aslanka decided to bat first after winning the toss, after which his team managed to score 230 runs in 50 overs, while the Indian team was all out at a score of 230 runs in 47.5 overs.

After the first ODI match of the series between India and Sri Lanka ended in a tie, no super over was played in this match. Actually, the reason behind this is the ICC rule that in case of a tie in any bilateral series in ODI, the result of the match will not be decided by super over. Let us tell you that before this, a 3-match T20 series was played between the two teams, the third match of which was a tie and the Indian team later won it.
