A 43-year-old man was detained by the National Investigation Agency on Thursday in connection with the Maharashtra ISIS module case for encouraging the violent actions of the outlawed terrorist group, according to a statement from the NIA.
In the Maharashtra ISIS module investigation, the NIA has now made five arrests.
According to the statement, the central agency conducted raids at the suspect’s home in the Kondhwa neighbourhood of Pune before taking Dr. Adnanali Sarkar into prison.
The NIA claims that Sarkar was involved in a plot to support ISIS’s (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) terrorist activities.
According to the statement, NIA searched his home and found various incriminating items, including electronic devices and ISIS-related documents.
The evidence revealed the accused’s allegiance to ISIS and his part in advancing the murderous agenda of the group by inspiring and recruiting young people, it claimed.
According to NIA, Sarkar was seeking to use the “Maharashtra ISIS module” of ISIS to wage war against the Government of India and undermine the country’s unity, integrity, security, and sovereignty.
On July 3, the agency made four arrests after searching a number of locations in Mumbai, Thane, and Pune in relation to the Maharashtra ISIS module case.
The four were identified as Sharjeel Shaikh and Zulfikar Ali Barodawala from Thane, Zubair Noor Mohammed Shaikh, aka Abu Nusaiba, from Pune, and Tabish Nasser Siddiqui from Mumbai.
