“Fake Voters”: BJP vs AAP Poster War Weeks Ahead Of Delhi Elections

The BJP and AAP have intensified their poster campaigns, aiming to shape public opinion ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections. The BJP accused AAP of engaging in voter fraud to retain power, sharing a poster of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal that alleged fraudulent voter entries for individuals aged 40 to 80 were registered at a single address without the homeowner’s knowledge. BJP described this as “Kejriwal’s new game to rig votes.”

In response, AAP released a video poster labeling Mr. Kejriwal as the “GOAT” (Greatest of All Time).

Mr. Kejriwal retaliated by accusing the BJP of hypocrisy, stating the party opposes honorariums for religious leaders while simultaneously advocating temple demolitions. On X, he remarked, “People are angry.” Expanding on this, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi accused the BJP-led central government of empowering the Lieutenant Governor (LG) to order temple demolitions without consulting Delhi’s elected government.

Atishi claimed that on November 22, the Religious Committee, which now reports to the LG, approved the demolition of temples in areas like West Patel Nagar, Dilshad Garden, Sultanpuri, and a Buddhist temple in Sundar Nagari. “The BJP’s hypocrisy is evident. They claim to protect Hinduism but destroy temples,” she said at a press conference.

The BJP countered with a list of unfulfilled promises by the AAP government. BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi criticized Mr. Kejriwal for failing to address key issues such as clean water, women’s safety, slum rehabilitation, pollution, and cleaning the Yamuna River. “Instead of solving these issues, Kejriwal’s government has done nothing,” Trivedi stated, adding that while PM Modi has restored credibility to politics, AAP has done the opposite.

MP Praveen Khandelwal dismissed AAP’s recent announcements, including honorariums for priests and granthis, as electoral stunts. “The Delhi treasury is empty. Kejriwal’s announcements are just a ploy to gain votes,” he said.
