Akshaya Tritiya 2025: Digital Gold Deals from PhonePe and Airtel Payments Bank

As Akshaya Tritiya 2025 approaches, fintech giants PhonePe and Airtel Payments Bank are rolling out special offers on digital gold purchases to tap into the festival’s traditional gold-buying fervour. These initiatives aim to blend the age-old value of gold with the ease and innovation of digital platforms.

PhonePe’s Cashback & Redemption Offers

PhonePe is offering a 1% cashback on one-time purchases of ₹2,000 or more in 24K digital gold. This offer is valid exclusively on April 30 and applies to payments made via UPI, credit/debit cards, PhonePe Wallet, or gift cards. However, note that this cashback offer does not extend to systematic investment plans (SIPs) and is limited to a single transaction.

Adding more sparkle, PhonePe users redeeming their digital gold at Caratlane outlets or on its website can enjoy further discounts: 2% off on gold coins, 3% on unstudded jewellery, and 5% on studded jewellery. The platform sources its gold from trusted providers such as MMTC-PAMP, SafeGold, and Caratlane, with investments starting from as little as ₹5. Plus, users can sell their gold anytime and receive the amount directly into their bank accounts—no strings attached.

Airtel Payments Bank’s DigiGold Strategy

Not to be outdone, Airtel Payments Bank is promoting its DigiGold service in collaboration with SafeGold. Available through the Airtel Thanks app, this service enables the purchase of 24K 99.5% pure gold, securely stored in insured vaults. Airtel is also introducing SIPs and digital gold coins, catering to diverse investor needs this festive season. This move is part of the bank’s broader plan to cement its position in the digital gold ecosystem.

The Rise of Digital Gold: A Festive Investment Trend

These festive deals reflect a growing trend—fintech companies leveraging technology to modernise age-old investment practices. Akshaya Tritiya, synonymous with prosperity and gold purchases, offers a perfect backdrop for promoting digital gold.

For decades, physical gold has been a go-to investment for the Indian middle class, often seen as a symbol of financial security. But it comes with baggage—literally. From making charges to locker fees, owning physical gold has its hidden costs.

Why Digital Gold is Gaining Ground

Digital gold revolutionises how people invest in this precious metal. Gone are the days when gold was only accessible to the wealthy or those making large purchases. With digital gold, even ₹10 can kickstart your investment journey.

Key benefits include:

  • Convenience without Compromise: No need for lockers or worrying about theft. Your gold is stored securely by the platform.
  • Fractional Flexibility: Invest in micro amounts and accumulate steadily over time—ideal for budget-conscious investors.
  • Instant Buy & Sell: Need cash? Sell your digital gold anytime, anywhere—no jeweller required.
  • Safety & Transparency: Many platforms use blockchain technology to track and authenticate each transaction, ensuring complete peace of mind.
